Why Did Jesus Fold the Napkin?
mikelee: Note. I found this interesting. I agree with the ultimate conclusion (obviously), but take the connection with a grain of salt. ———————————————————————————— Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection? I never noticed this…. The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over The face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave...

Conversation Between Ex's.
Girl: Your new girlfriend is pretty. (I bet she stole your heart)
Boy: yeah, she is. (But you’re still the most beautiful girl I know)
Girl: I heard she’s funny & amazing. (All the stuff I wasn’t)
Boy: She sure is. (But she’s nothing compared to you)
Girl: I bet you know everything about her by now (Like how you knew just about everything about me)
Boy: Only the stuff that count (I can’t even remember the stuff she tells me when I think of you)
Girl: Well, I hope you guys last. (Because we never did)
Boy: I hope we do too. (Whatever happened to me & you?)
Girl: Well I got to go. (Before I start to cry)
Boy: Yeah me too. (I hope you don’t cry)
Girl: Bye. (I still love you)
Boy: Later. (I never stopped)
--I actually remember having a conversation very similar to this one about a year ago. She cried half way through though. No explanation. No closure. Just tears. Things don't need to be spoken to be said. The fleeting glance, the shuffling feet, these are the mediums by which the heart speaks.

Disappointment with God
Disappointment with God by Philip Yancy Chapter 13: The descent Kenosis is the technical word theologians use to describe Christ emptying himself of the advantages of deity. Ironically, while the emptying involved much humiliation, it also involved a kind of freedom. I have spoken of the “disadvantages” of infinity. A physical body freed Christ to act on a human scale, without those...

Disappointment with God
Disappointment with God by Philip Yancy Chapter 9: One shining Moment “In this world there are only two tragedies. One is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.” Solomon got whatever he wanted, especially when it came to symbols of power and status. Gradual, he depended less on God and more on the props around him: the world’s largest harem, a house twice the size of the...

Disappointment with God
Disappointment with God by Philip Yancy Chapter 6: Risky Business Eiseley is right: at the heart of the universe is a smile, a pulse of joy passed down from the moment of creation. A new parent who holds a baby, my baby, close against flesh for the first time knows it. And that is the feeling God had when he looked over what he had made and pronounced it good. In the beginning, the very...

Disappointment with God
Disappointment with God by Philip Yancy Chapter 5: The Source Why is God silent, why doesn’t God show himself? Why does Go hid? These three questions took a new light. They are not puzzles awaiting solution, such as you would encounter in the field of mathematics or computer programming or even philosophy. Rather, they are problems of relationship between human beings stand a God who wants...

Disappointment with God
Disappointment with God by Philip Yancy Chapter 3: The Questions No One Asks Aloud True atheists do not, I presume, feel disappointed in God. They expect nothing and receive nothing. But those who commit their lives to God, no matter what, instinctively expect something in return. Are these expectations wrong? Pg 37 Chapter 4: What If Without somehow destroying me in the process, how could...

New Year Resolutions
1) Fulfill one need in the world…and since I can’t think of any that I want to fulfill, I will just have to do whatever I see. 2) Learn something practical like how to wax a car real good 3) No junk food for a year…excluding candy 4) Read less. Limited to 12 books a year…that should free up some time to draw more. 5) Do something nice for someone...
